8 elite forwards we can’t believe Darwin Nunez is outperforming in 2023-24
You might not have realised it, but Darwin Nunez is in tremendous form for Liverpool right now. He’s even outperforming stars from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Across all competitions, the Uruguayan forward has 23 goal contributions with 12 goals and 11 assists to his name. That’s already a higher amount than he managed during the entirety of last season.
We’ve taken a closer look at some of the top stars from around the globe that Nunez is currently outperforming for Liverpool.
Leroy Sane
Despite being in the form of his life right now, the Bayern Munich man has still been less productive than Nunez this season. Across all competitions, Sane has 21 goal contributions with nine goals and 12 assists.
Over the past few months, Sane has been linked with a move to Liverpool as various outlets have suggested that he could be a worthy Mohamed Salah replacement. Watch this space.
Vinicius Junior
It is worth flagging that Vinicius has missed a chunk of the season through injury, but he’s still racked up 1,674 minutes of football across all competitions. In that time, he’s produced 19 goal contributions which is slightly less than Nunez has managed.

Robert Lewandowski
There can be little debate that Lewandowski ranks among the best strikers of the modern generation. However, with that being said, his numbers aren’t quite what they used to be.
The Barcelona frontman has managed a total of 20 goal contributions which is three less than the Liverpool forward.
Heung-min Son
The Tottenham forward has rightly received plenty of plaudits for his performances this season. Under Ange Postecoglou, the South Korean has been thriving in a more central position.
During the 2023-24 campaign so far, Son has scored 12 goals and has provided six assists. He has therefore managed five less goal contributions than Nunez has.
Serhou Guirassy
The Stuttgart forward has been scoring at a freakishly good rate this year. In just 16 appearances across all competitions, he’s managed to score 19 goals and has provided a further two assists.
Nunez has managed two more goal contributions than the Guinea international, although it does have to be said that he has played 878 more minutes of football this season.
Alvaro Morata
In the eyes of many Premier League fans, Morata will forever be tarnished because of the subpar spell he had with Chelsea. However, the 31-year-old looks like an entirely different beast this season.
He’s currently scoring a goal every 114 minutes and is projected to have the best scoring season of his career to date.
But, you guessed it, that’s still not enough to beat Nunez this season. In total, the Liverpool forward has one more goal contribution than the Atletico Madrid man.
Paulo Dybala
He might have a World Cup medal, but Dybala can’t hold a candle to the numbers Nunez has produced this year. Impressively, the Liverpool forward has managed eight more goal involvements than the Roma star in 2023-24.
Victor Osimhen
Pretty much every elite club is chasing his signature right now, but Osimhen is lagging behind Nunez this season in the goalscoring department.
Of course, the Napoli man has missed a large chunk of the campaign through injury, but it is worth highlighting that Nunez also has a greater goal involvement per 90 record than Osimhen.
As things stand, Nunez is producing a goal contribution every 91 minutes, compared to Osimhen who is averaging a goal or assist every 119.5 minutes.
