Noah Okafor already introduced himself to Milan with a disgraceful double nutmeg goal

It’s been a whirlwind summer on the red side of Milan, with fans outraged at the dismissal of Paolo Maldini and the sale of Sandro Tonali – but now enthused at the transfer business that has followed, with Noah Okafor the latest name through the door.

The Swiss forward’s status as a Milan player is now all but confirmed, another impressive coup in a sudden recruitment drive ushered in by new owners RedBird and Gerry Cardinale.

A torrid first season as owners of the club followed their June 2022 takeover, failing to invest after the Rossoneri lifted the Scudetto for the first time in 11 years. And with Milan fans having been to hell and back in the last decade with owners, it was no surprise to see the slow start trigger some serious PTSD.

There’s still a long way to go, but there’s been a big sigh of relief around the red half of the city now that the investment has finally begun – even if it did take the sale of their title-winning, boyhood fan midfield maestro.

We’re not here to assess that today, though. We’re here to introduce you to Okafor, the striker that Milan have been crying out for to alleviate the burden on Olivier Giroud after Divock Origi did anything but, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic bowed down to father time.

Giroud has been nothing short of a hero since signing from Chelsea in 2021, but Origi failed to deliver after arriving for free last season.

And after Milan just about scraped a top-four finish as defending champions, the pressure is on Okafor and the rest of the new faces to fire them back to the top once again.

For those who aren’t aware, the 23-year-old joins from Red Bull Salzburg off the back of a modest yet promising haul of 15 goal contributions in all competitions in 2022-23.

Milan fans among us, though, know all about him. Too well, in all honesty. And so does Milan’s defence, who he broke apart like slow-cooked pork off a joint in the Champions League last season, with what was quietly one of the goals of the competition.

Somebody took Jim Ross’ ‘make yourself famous’ commentary of Jeff Hardy’s Undisputed Title match with The Undertaker too seriously, didn’t they?

We’re not so sure about famous, but Okafor certainly made himself infamous in the Milan dressing room after that.

All you can do is wince and make inaudible noise as Pierre Kalulu tumbles to the floor like a man that’s nailed one too many Limoncello. That’s a painful one to watch back.

But Okafor wasn’t done there. Nah. After an already exceptional bit of striker’s intellect, getting between full-back and centre-back, pushing off Davide Calabria to hold his line and then leaving Kalulu for dead with an outrageous nutmeg, he goes one further and notches his second nutmeg in as many seconds, threading the ball through Mike Maignan and into the back of the net.

Filth. Sheer, unbridled filth. Thanks for coming, fellas.

We’d give anything to be a fly on the wall at Milanello when Okafor meets the pair of them for the first time. Left Kalulu for dead and made one of the best goalkeepers in the world look like a fool, under the floodlights of the Champions League. That’s aura, if ever we’ve seen it.

Making the jump from the Austrian Bundesliga to one of the biggest and most storied clubs in world football is a pretty significant one, but from that goal alone, we’re pretty sure Okafor has all the credentials to strut into the fashion capital and walk the walk like he’s headlining the show.
