Watch: Gary Neville cheekily trolls Carragher during Origi analysis
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville couldn’t resist the opportunity to troll Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.
Neville and Carragher were sworn enemies throughout their playing days and had some memorable spats on the pitch. But they now get on pretty well and constantly wind one another up in the Sky Sports studio.
During their most recent appearance on Monday Night Football, Carragher spoke about his love for Liverpool striker Divock Origi.
Origi has never established himself as a first-team regular at Anfield but has scored countless crucial goals for the club, including a late winner against Wolves at the weekend.
“Divock Origi is a legendary figure at Liverpool but it’s not because everyone thinks he’s a great player, it’s because of the great goals he’s scored,” Carragher said.
“And whenever Origi starts a game, you go into the ground or you’re watching on TV and you think ‘oh Origi’s starting’, but whenever he comes off the bench, you feel completely different.”
After watching Carragher’s analysis, Neville then took a cheeky pop at his colleague.
“He’s a legendary Liverpool player who wasn’t very good,” the 48-year-old said. “I thought he was talking about himself!”
