Considered as one of the greatest Italian players of all time, Roberto Baggio was the focus of our latest footballing reaction on YouTube.
Our reactor Ben only started watching football in 2008 and so he was too young to have witnessed the greatness of Baggio and we had to put
that right.
His peak years were spent at Juventus where he scored 115 goals in 200 appearances between 1990 and 1995.
In 1990 his £8million move from Fiorentina to Juventus was a world-record fee and Baggio didn’t take long to adapt to his new surroundings.
In his first season with Juventus, he scored in his first three league matches and ended the season with 27 goals in all competitions.
Throughout his illustrious career, he scored over 300 goals including 27 for his country.
Baggio won the 1993 Ballon d’Or and he came second to Hristo Stoichkov in the 1994 awards.
Whilst in Italy he won two league titles, one with Juventus and one with AC Milan.
In 1999 Baggio was ranked fourth in the 1999 FIFA Player of the Century internet poll and was the highest placed Italian on the list.
He was undoubtedly one of a kind and what was most impressive was his ability to bounce back from serious injuries. Baggio was just 18 when he suffered his first serious knee injury, a problem that would plague him for the next decade of his career.
When Baggio was on his game though, there was no stopping him.
